Is Unlimited Internet Really Unlimited Internet?

Is Unlimited Internet Really Unlimited Internet: In pursuit of internet service in rural America, many have resorted to using their phone as their primary source for the internet as most people now have smartphones that can be used as a hotspot. Because of this, there have been some carriers who see an opportunity for increasing their own market share and have thus introduced unlimited data plans that were once extinct, with certain conditions of course. A couple of the most well-known carriers offering unlimited plans include T-Mobile, and more recently Verizon. But are they really “unlimited?”
For example, Verizon advertises an “unlimited” plan that restricts users of smartphones and tablets to specific video resolutions, depending on the package they are on. That means a single-line unlimited mobile plan that is $75 can only allow 480p streaming on a phone, and 720p streaming on a tablet. Premium versions of their unlimited plans allow for better streaming resolutions, but phones are still capped at 720p. Most carriers, despite their plans being “unlimited” have certain exceptions that are not explicitly listed or clarified, such as peak hours of the day when the carrier may slow down some users, regardless of the plans they are on. It all sounds good on paper, but the specifics of the unlimited plans being offered clearly show there are tradeoffs for the “unlimited” service you are getting.
