What is “High Speed” Internet?
Generally, “High-Speed” or “Broadband” Internet is anything faster than Dial-Up. FreedomNet’s connection is up to 30 – 50 times faster than Dial-Up.
Does FreedomNet offer satellite internet service?
No. FreedomNet offers a point-to-multipoint system utilizing the latest in Motorola’s High-Speed radio equipment.
Why FreedomNet over satellite?
FreedomNet’s latency (response time between network devices) is three to five times faster than satellite internet service because FreedomNet’s signal travels much shorter distances than satellite. Satellite’s high latency makes gaming nearly impossible.
How does FreedomNet’s Service Work?
FreedomNet’s Service is offered through a network of towers powered by Motorola radio transmitters. In order to receive FreedomNet’s Service, a subscriber module (antenna/radio placed at highest point on location) needs to be installed in a fixed location at the customer’s site.
Do I need a phone line?
Absolutely not. FreedomNet’s High-Speed Internet is transmitted wirelessly to your home, making telephone lines unnecessary.
I’m interested in FreedomNet’s High-Speed Internet. How do I get hooked up?
In order to access FreedomNet’s High-Speed Internet, simply click here or call 866-NO-WIRES and schedule a Site Evaluation of your home/business. A Site Evaluation is necessary because FreedomNet uses a point-to-multipoint system in which a clear line of sight within range of a FreedomNet tower is typically needed. Installers will come out to your home/business to check if the signal meets FreedomNet’s Installation standards and if so, identify the Site Evaluation as positive. At this point, a member of the FreedomNet Sales Team will call to relay the results and if desired, schedule an Installation.
How much does it cost to have a Site Evaluation?
Site Evaluations are available for $25.00. However, there are two ways to avoid ever having to pay for this fee: 1) If your Installation is deemed “positive” and you are Installed within 14 days of receiving your results, FreedomNet will waive the Site Evaluation fee. 2) If your Site Evaluation is deemed negative and Service is unavailable to you through FreedomNet, your Site Evaluation fee will be waived.
Are there minimum computer requirements?
Yes. Your computer must be capable of receiving a DHCP address (internet address automatically given out by FreedomNet’s servers) through a network card. Also, a web browser is necessary to access the Internet. FreedomNet recommends Windows XP or newer, but older Window versions should work. FreedomNet also supports MAC OS X and variations of Linux. If you have any further questions, FreedomNet’s Technicians would be happy to assist you.
Will my High-Speed Internet connection be secure?
Yes. All of FreedomNet’s wireless connections are encrypted to maximize security.
