How is “No Limits Internet” effected by snow & ice?

Some would say the state of Michigan has been fortunate (others would say unfortunate) enough to have some unusually warm weather this time of year. But we all know that sooner or later the cold will be back and with it comes the snow and ice that may, or may not affect your “No Limits Internet” service.

Because the nature of our service requires a constant line of sight to a tower for the service to work properly, there may be instances where snow and ice accumulation can degrade the signal quality of the service to a point where it can cause some minor interruptions with your connection. Here are some recommended tips to deal with that:

  • Snow can be easily brushed off our wireless equipment outside, but a lot of times the equipment may be in a location that cannot be easily reached. In these situations, we usually recommend using something like a broom to bush off snow.
  • Ice accumulation is a little more difficult to address, but in some cases you can lightly tap the equipment which will be enough to allow the ice to fall off and a clear signal to be achieved.
  • Using heating sources, such as a blow dryer, is a preferred option if the equipment can be reached easily.

Please keep in mind that while these are steps that can be taken by the customer, and we strongly encourege those climbing on the roof to take necessary safety measures before doing so. FreedomNet Solutions is not responsible if the equipment gets damaged due to customer negligence. It is always recommended that you first contact our tech support department and speak with a representative who can either dispatch a technician to address the issue, or recommend further steps to improve the service.

If you are not a customer and would like to know more information about our point to multipoint wireless internet service, feel free to fill out a Contact Us form, or call our offices at 866.669.4737 ext. 2 and speak with a sales representative.
