Netflix with No Limits Internet
Posted by FreedomNet
Netflix. It has been mentioned many times in our past blog posts and is a very common topic of discussion between us and our customers. In short, people really want to be able to watch their favorite TV shows online, at any time, without being tied to a cable TV subscription, at a fixed low monthly cost. Since its inception as a DVD delivery service to its transition to a video streaming service, Netflix has exploded in popularity. However, not all internet companies have adapted their services to accommodate the high amount of data required to download and stream video services. The main issue is companies having data caps that limit their customer’s internet usage to a set amount of allocated data before overage charges start to apply.
We here at FreedomNet Solutions are proud to be the #1 wireless no limits internet provider in the State of Michigan that features no limits on your internet usage with speed packages that can meet the requirements for using a video streaming service such as Netflix. Despite much of our network having upgraded internet plans available, some of our customers choose not to upgrade to a higher plan. Netflix’s video streaming service requires a minimum amount of bandwidth to effectively run. Here are some tips that can help you improve your streaming experience.
When Netflix is open as a window on your desktop or laptop, try out the following commands to open Netflix’s hidden Stream Manager feature:
- Control+alt+shift+S – This allows you to raise or lower the bitrate of your stream and to also change the CDN that is sending you video traffic. A higher bitrate can improve the quality of the picture you’re seeing, but in high network usage times during the day you may want to lower it to allow the stream to continue without any interruptions or pauses.
- Control+alt+shift+D – This command will allow you to open up a panel that will detail your current settings and how those settings impact your viewing experience. Stats include the current bitrate for streaming and buffering, the framerate and latency.
- Control+alt+shift+L – If you started making a bunches of changes, but the picture or buffering has not improved, or gotten worse, you can view a log of all the changes you made so you can revert back to the original settings.
Another small tip that may not be practical for everyone is to simply watch Netflix during non-peak hours throughout the day, this means watching your videos late at night or really early in the morning. Less congestion of the network means more consistent speeds that can be dedicated to your video streaming. FreedomNet is here not only to satisfy your Netflix watching, but to also provide the best quality of service for all your no limits internet related needs.
