No Limits Internet Smart House

Posted by FreedomNet

Well, it was inevitable. Nest, everyone’s favorite AI thermostat (ok not really), is ready to take over your home. For those of you not already familiar, a Nest thermostat is essentially a smart thermostat that is completely programmable by the user that can integrate with existing thermostat systems already in place. What’s unique about a Nest thermostat (besides how cool it looks) is that you can set specific temperatures for various times of the day, various days of the week, even various seasons. It also senses movement so it knows when people are actively in the house, or are away so it can adjust to minimize utility usage.

Nest Labs, the company that makes the thermostat, has recently announced the deployment of something called Nest Weave, an ambitious next step towards a fully automated residential home. The engineers at Google, which recently bought Nest for $3.2 Billion, envision a world where Nest products, such as lights, laundry machines, carbon monoxide detectors, even security systems can be synchronized to a single system that can be remotely accessed from a smartphone. These would all function autonomously based on user preferences and all have power saving features that minimize their use and save on utility costs. The only downside would be having to purchase Nest specific products, but hey, it’s a small price to pay if you want this and not have to pay for this. Oh, and you’ll need an internal connection for it to all work.
